Peanut Butter

So yesterday I pick Hannah up from school, and the after school care teacher Patty asks me if Hannah is allergic to peanut butter. I told her that she is not. She then told me that when they found out that peanut butter crackers were the snack for the kids today that Patty asked all the kids if any of them were allergic to peanut butter and Hannah raised her hand! When a child is allergic to peanuts, they can't take the chance of the child coming into contact with them at all, so since Hannah raised her hand and said she was allergic... NONE OF THE CHILDREN GOT TO HAVE SNACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So when I got there Patty was asking me out of concern so she could note it. I just about DIED! I apologized and said I would talk with Hannah. I asked Hannah why she told Miss Patty she was allergic to peanut butter when she is not and she said, "I thought that allergic meant the same thing as not liking something." So needless to say we had a chat last night about what food allergies are. And just so you know... my child always has the occassional peaunt butter sandwich in her lunch box... she always eats them. Hmm...
